The best fruit makes the best wine, that is OUR take on vineyards.
We don't scrimp here. It is a luxury to grow some of our own fruit and we take full advantage of that. Rocky Mother, Stone's Throw, and Defiance are all ours. We farm them with the least amount of intervention possible and crop them down with a vengeance.
Here is how we do it:
Rocky Mother & Stone's Throw Vineyard
Our first estate vineyard located on Dean's homestead property in Pateros. Rocky Mother is just that, you should see the wall we got out of planting this one! It is top half of a 5 acre parcel planted to Syrah. This vineyard is a struggler and that is great. The fruit is intense, dense, meaty and just darn impressive.
Stone's Throw is our riesling block. It is planted to the lower half of the parcel and is combination planting of Clone 9 & 12 . Just like Rocky Mother, the per acre yield is extremely low and the result wines are packed with fruit and minerality, extremely expressive and just plain delightful.
Defiance Vineyard
This is our second estate vineyard block and the one that sits on the winery property in Lake Chelan. The slopes are a 4.5 acre Syrah block and the lower half is about 2 acres of Viognier. The fruit came into production in 2007. The Syrah has now been released and the second vintage of Viognier is available. This vineyard sits just above the lake and produces amazing intensity in the Syrah block and delicate, yet overwhelmingly opulent fruit in the whites.
Sagemoor Vineyard
Our Sauvignon Blanc supplier since 2006. The fruit from this vineyard goes into our Consequence blend. We love it for it's ripe, tropical fruit, and balanced acidity.
Weinbau Vineyard, Wahluke Slope
We source our Cabernet Franc from this site and love it, wish we could get more! The resulting wine is always amazing, intense, and frankly, impressive.
Riverbend Vineyard, Wahluke Slope
This is where our Cabernet Sauvignon is grown along with the Merlot we source for soon-to-be released Spinner blend. The Wade's grow beautiful fruit and this site is perfect for our Cab. program.
Upland Vineyard, Snipes Mountain AVA
The Newhouse family does a fantastic job and we love having the opportunity to buy from them. They provide us with aligote (for Consequence), Malbec, and Zinfandel.
